Easter Craft Activity – Toilet Roll Bunny
Toilet rolls make the perfect craft box item because you can pretty much guarantee you’ve always got one or two on hand. They’re also a good size for little hands to hold comfortably and are durable and pliable.
This Toilet Roll Easter Bunny is an easy kids craft. Some bits are fiddly and if you’ve got younger children, it might be best to assemble the steps before starting. So with this in mind, I’d recommend it suitable for ages 4+.
This is a great activity for some cutting practice and hand-eye coordination. Kids love cutting things and it helps children to develop their fine motor skills. In steps 3, 4 and 5, make sure the children use safe scissors and that you’re constantly supervising. Remember to cut in a direction away from your body and always be seated whilst cutting.
To Make: Toilet Roll Easter Bunny Craft
- Ages: 4+
- Time: prep – 15 minutes, assembling: 20 minutes
What You’ll Need:
- 1 empty toilet roll
- Plain card stock (or an extra toilet roll)
- 1 black marker or crayon
- 2 googly eyes
- Pink crêpe paper or paint
- White pain + paint brush
- PVA glue
- Masking tape
- Kid safe scissors
For The Children:
- Art Smocks or Old Clothes
- Baby wipes, chux or a rag
- Warm soapy water to wash their hands + paint brush
- Camera to document their creations into your scrapbook or daily journal
To Make:
- Assemble your items and clear an open space. If you don’t have a kid
friendly craft space, you may want to lay down protective butchers paper or plastic sheeting or work outside (weather permitting). - To create the body of the Easter Bunny, paint your toilet roll white.
- Whilst it’s drying, cut out 2 bunny ear shapes from the card stock. It’s best to use white card stock but if you don’t have any on hand, use brown card such as a left over toilet roll and then paint white.
- Next, you’ll need to create the little pink fluffy bits for the ears. I used pink crepe paper and a smaller size ear shape, glued on using PVA glue. You could also use pink crayon or marker or even pink dyed cotton wool.
- Repeat the same process again to cut out the bunny feet. The feet will need to be pink and larger than the ears.
- By now your Bunny body should be dry. Dab a dot of PVA glue onto the backs of the googly eyes and glue onto the toilet roll at about half way or just above.
- This will give you an idea of how big your pink nose should be. Cut a small triangle out of card and make it pink and glue onto the bunny.
- Next you’ll need to stick the ears and feet onto the Easter Bunny. This might be a bit fiddly so you’ll need to help the kids.
The ears: I used masking tape to stick the ears onto the inside of the toilet roll, positioning them first.
The feet: Again using masking tape, I folded a tiny flat at the ends of both feet upwards inside the roll so that they’d be flush with the TP surface and able to stick on.
- To finish, carefully draw on your bunny mouth and whiskers and there you have it!
This craft is super kid friendly and perfect for an Easter themed activity. It’s not perfect but we like it that way!
