Nanny Myths and Misconceptions

Hiring a nanny can be beneficial in so many ways however not everyone initially sees it in a positive light.

“Uniforms are required”
Not every nanny wears uniforms, only a select few such as Norland College nannies. Wearing your own clothes gives you the best opportunity to play in slime, bake with messy flour and dodge zombie brains!

“Nannies are only for rich and famous”
Hiring a nanny isn’t just for the rich and famous, at all. Here at Happy Nest we’ve helped families up and down the country from all walks of life. There’s no judgement in asking for help.

“Nannies are female only”
Nope! Families may prefer a male nanny actually, if they’re parents to boys for example. In fact they’re called mannies!

“Nannying isn’t a real job”
It 100% is! It can be more hard-working than many of the jobs in other industries. Very early starts, very limited sick days, constant tidying up and thinking ahead.

“Nannies are glorified babysitters”
Far from it. Our nannies are thoroughly vetted, self employed and have contracts written in place. Being a nanny isn’t casually caring for your neighbour’s child every now and then, it’s so much more.

“Nannies shouldn’t get paid during naps”
When they nap, you *can’t* nap. It’s time to tidy up, clean up, plan tomorrow’s activities and batch cook.

“Nannies just get to play all day”
Playing games feels like a reward and break from doing absolutely everything else.
